Bas Van Opheusden

Bas van Opheusden is an accomplished AI Research Scientist at Imbue since February 2023, focusing on building AI agents that can reason and code. Prior to this role, Bas served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Princeton University in the Computer Science Department since January 2019, working under Professor Tom Griffiths. Bas has also gained valuable experience as a Research Intern at Meta's Facebook Reality Labs, where development of Virtual Reality experiments and implementation of reinforcement learning agents took place. Academic background includes a PhD in Neuroscience from New York University, coupled with a Master's and Bachelor's in Physics, as well as a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Leiden University. Teaching experiences span various roles, including Graduate Teaching Assistant and Teaching Assistant in multiple universities, and a position as a physics and mathematics teacher at the Visser 't Hooft Lyceum.
