André Barbosa

André Barbosa has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. André is currently employed at Gen H as the Head of Engineering since March 2023. Before that, they worked at Skyscanner as an Engineering Manager from May 2016 to June 2020. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Platform at Fling - See the World, a social media app, where they faced challenges such as scaling the platform to support over 5 million users and leading the migration of a monolithic Rails application into microservices. Before Fling, André was a Lead Ruby Developer at Bauer Media, where they worked on delivering mobile versions of magazines to the iOS platform. André also has experience as a Freelancer, specializing in building e-commerce solutions, and as a Co-Founder at Serei As Chaves and Timly, managing the product lifecycle for social betting and appointment management platforms respectively. André's career started at CodeOne, where they worked as a Programmer focused on creating custom software solutions for clients in manufacturing and warehouses.

André Barbosa received a BSc in Software Engineering from Universidade do Minho, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Following that, they pursued an MSc in Software Engineering from the same university, completing their degree from 2010 to 2012. In addition to their formal education, André obtained various certifications to further enhance their skill set. These include certifications in Neural Networks and Deep Learning, iOS App Development Basics, Introduction to Swift Programming, R Programming, and The Data Scientist's Toolbox, all obtained through Coursera and various institutions between 2015 and 2017.
