James Bernstein

James Bernstein is the Head of Financial Risk Management at Genesis Analytics, where they lead a team in delivering advisory services on various aspects of risk management. With over three decades of experience in prominent banking institutions across London, New York, and Johannesburg, their expertise includes portfolio management, financial regulation, and risk governance. Prior to their current role, they held significant positions at Absa Capital and Nedbank, and they began their finance career at Morgan Stanley. In addition to consulting, James lectures on Financial Risk Management and Economics for Business at the University of the Witwatersrand, supervising graduate research reports. They hold a BA in Economics from the University of California and an MSc in Economics from London University.
