Jesse Sims has a diverse work experience in various scientific and medical roles. Currently, Jesse works as an R&D Medical Technologist at GENETWORx, where they develop and validate clinical assays for SARS-CoV-2 and antibiotic-resistant organisms. They are skilled in manual and automated extraction/purification techniques and utilize various real-time RT-qPCR instruments.
Prior to this, Jesse worked as a Microbiologist at IEH Laboratories and Consulting Group from December 2019 to January 2021. Before that, they served as a Laboratory Assistant Volunteer at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine from November 2019 to March 2020.
Jesse also has experience as a Chemical Laboratory Technician at Afton Chemical Corporation, where they worked on process development and quality improvement projects. They were involved in data analysis and collaborated with the data science team. Additionally, they administered a chemical interaction database and created spectral databases.
At the start of their career, Jesse worked as a Research Assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University SOM - Anatomy & Neurobiology, where they conducted research in the field of anatomy and neurobiology.
Jesse Sims attended Virginia Commonwealth University from 2006 to 2011, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a focus on International Management. Additionally, Jesse also completed a minor in Global Studies and Pre-Health Sciences during their time at the university.
