James Bancroft

James Bancroft is a seasoned professional in avatar technology and character development with extensive experience in the visual effects and animation industry. Currently serving as Senior Director of Avatar Technology at Genies since February 2021, James has previously held significant roles, including Manager of Character Technology at Magic Leap, where responsibilities encompassed developing mixed reality human presence technology. Prior experience includes serving as Global Rigging Supervisor at Digital Domain 3.0, leading character TD departments, and working on notable projects such as "Iron Man 3," which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects. James's career also includes roles at Sony Pictures Imageworks as Character Rigging Supervisor, where work focused on rigging and character pipeline development, as well as significant contributions at Pixar Animation Studios as an Animation Scientist. James holds a B.A. in Design from UCLA.
