John Karavitis is an experienced professional in diagnostics and biomarker development, currently serving as the Director of Diagnostics and Biomarker Development at Genmab since April 2022. Prior to this role, John held multiple positions at Abbott from August 2013 to April 2022, including Principal Scientist 2 and Principal Scientist within the R&D division focused on infectious disease and oncology. John also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University, where research was centered in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Biological Chemistry. As a co-founder and president of Proteas Inc. Investments, John led strategic financial planning and achieved significant returns during an economic downturn. Earlier experience includes a Research Technician position at Harvard Medical School. John holds a PhD in Cell Biology, Neurobiology, and Anatomy from Loyola University Chicago, as well as an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a BS in Biology from the University of Illinois Chicago.
