Joanna Stapleton has a diverse work experience that spans over a decade. Joanna began their career as a Research Assistant at the Systems Biology Research Group at UCSD, where they worked on various projects related to identifying antibacterial compounds and investigating gene essentiality. After that, they joined Sequenom as a Research Associate, where they contributed to scientific research. In 2014, Joanna joined GenMark Diagnostics and started as an Engineer I, gradually progressing to higher positions such as Engineer II and Sr. Engineer. Joanna then transitioned to project management, taking on roles as a Project Manager and Sr. Manager Strategy & Special Projects. Currently, Joanna works at GenMark Diagnostics as the Strategy, Communications, and Special Projects Lead.

Joanna Stapleton obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering and Biotechnology from UC San Diego in the period of 2008 to 2012.
