Kirk Terrell

Sr. Manufacturing Quality Engineer at GenMark Diagnostics

Kirk Terrell has extensive work experience in the field of quality engineering. Kirk started their career at Alaris Medical Systems as a Principal Quality Engineer, where they provided sustaining quality engineering support for infusion device platforms. Kirk played a crucial role in the successful launch of the 8100-PCS infusion device and led the effort to identify the root cause of a field failure issue for the Signature Edition infusion device.

Terrell then joined Cardinal Health as a Manager, Quality Engineering. In this role, they supervised a team responsible for infusion pumps and clinical monitoring devices. Kirk successfully eliminated a process bottleneck by developing design mitigations based on historical data and supported the smooth manufacturing facility move.

Afterwards, Terrell joined CareFusion as a Sr. Principal Engineer, Quality, where they provided guidance to quality engineers and projects with cross-product impact. Kirk reduced Receiving Inspection by approximately 10% by eliminating unnecessary inspections.

Following their tenure at CareFusion, Terrell worked at BD as a Staff Quality Engineer II. Kirk provided guidance to quality engineers supporting various product lines, including the Alaris System Large Volume Pump. Kirk doubled the throughput for a time-consuming receiving inspection through the validation of a new inspection equipment.

Currently, Terrell works at GenMark Diagnostics as a Sr. Manufacturing Quality Engineer. Kirk serves as the quality representative for the installation qualification, operational qualification, and performance qualification protocols for equipment, facility, and utilities. Kirk implemented a priority list for incoming inspections to drive faster material flow, recovered a significant amount of usable inventory, and implemented a handling change to increase yield.

In summary, Kirk Terrell's work experience highlights their expertise in quality engineering, their accomplishments in improving processes and throughput, and their contributions to successful product launches and inspections.

Kirk Terrell holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Applied Mathematics from San Diego State University. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications. These include the ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer from ASQ - World Headquarters, which was obtained in September 2022. Kirk also holds an Amateur Radio General License and an Amateur Radio Technician License, both obtained from the Federal Communications Commission in May 2022 and January 2022, respectively. It should be noted that there is no specified month or year for the obtainment of the ANSI/IPC-A-601D certification from IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries.
