Matthew Buckner

Instrumentation Engineer I

Matthew Buckner is an experienced instrumentation engineer and fermentation specialist at Geno, with a tenure starting in October 2019. In roles including Instrumentation Engineer I, Fermentation Associate II, and Fermentation Associate I, responsibilities encompass setting up and executing fermentations in both 2L reactors and AMBR250s, along with planning experiments and analyzing fermentation data. Previously, as a Fermentation Technician, media preparation and monitoring bioreactor conditions were key responsibilities. Prior to Geno, Buckner served as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at California State University San Marcos from June 2018 to May 2020, contributing to projects focused on molecular structural data of Rhamnus crocea and developing methods for microplastics analysis. Buckner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from California State University San Marcos, obtained in 2020, and studied at Palomar College from 2013 to 2017.
