Tim Torchia

Vice President, Intellectual Property at Genomatica

Tim Torchia has extensive experience in intellectual property, specifically in roles related to patents. Tim started their career at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP in 1989 as a Senior Patent Agent. Tim then moved to Genentech, where they served as a Senior Patent Agent from 1994 to 1999. Following this, they joined the Torrey Mesa Research Institute (now Syngenta) as a Director of Intellectual Property from 1999 to 2003. Tim then worked at Diversa (now Verenium Corp) as a Director of Intellectual Property from 2003 to 2005. Tim later joined Amylin Pharmaceuticals, where they held the position of Director of Intellectual Property from 2005 to 2012. Currently, they serve as the Vice President of Intellectual Property at Genomatica, Inc., a position they have held since 2012.

Tim Torchia obtained their Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Penn State University in 1987. Following this, they pursued a postdoctorate degree in Neuroscience at the University of California, San Francisco - School of Medicine from 1987 to 1989.
