Simone Gardini has a diverse work experience. In 2013, they were a Graduate Student at Ghibelli Lina Lab (Applied Biology), where they conducted structural biology analysis of cysteines in the structure and function of the Bcl-2 family proteins. In 2014, they were a Ph.D in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Siena, Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Pharmacy. During this time, they conducted a structural bioinformatics investigation on protein-DNA complexes. In 2016, they were a Visiting Ph.D. Student at both King's College London and EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne). At EPFL, they worked in the Laboratory for Biomolecular Modeling, contributing in the domain of structural bioinformatics with the tools developed for multiscale simulations, molecular assembly and membrane modeling. In 2017, they became the CEO and Co-Founder of GenomeUp, a precision medical SaaS that allows doctors to fully exploit the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Through GenomeUp, doctors get a detailed clinical report on genes affecting patients’ pathologies, the gravity of the new selected mutations and the last personalized therapies, mining the information from the world’s biggest biomedical database PubMed, on the basis of patients’ genetic data.
Simone Gardini obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Università degli Studi di Siena between 2014 and 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a degree in Bioinformatics from University of Rome Tor Vergata and a degree in Biology with a focus in Genetic and Molecular Biology from Sapienza Università di Roma.
