Laurel G. Zhang is the Vice President of Protein Sciences at GenScript, leading protein science development activities since December 2022. Previously, Laurel held senior leadership positions at Gilead Sciences as Sr. Director of Upstream Process Development and Molecular Biology, overseeing upstream CMC activities for ADC projects, and at WuXi Biologics as Sr. Director of Upstream Process Development, managing viral vaccine projects and cell culture media development. Prior experience includes serving as Group Leader at Genentech, where Laurel developed proprietary media platforms and advanced fed-batch processes, as well as roles at GlaxoSmithKline focusing on Phase III process development for therapeutic proteins and at Amgen as a Post Doctoral Fellow working on chemically-defined media. Laurel earned a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis.
