John Biteau

John Biteau is an experienced engineering professional specializing in optical materials and technologies. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering - Optics NPD at Gentex Corp. since August 2020, John transitioned from the role of R&D Director at Materials & Technologies, where innovation in optical materials was a key focus. Prior to these positions, John held multiple roles at Essilor over a span of 21 years, culminating as the R&D Director of Advanced Materials & Technologies, where leadership of an internationally diverse R&D team was emphasized. Throughout John's career, significant contributions included developing new ophthalmic lens functions, initiating disruptive approaches in product development, and managing various R&D programs. John holds a PhD in Chemistry of Materials from École Polytechnique and degrees in Chemistry and Physics & Chemistry from Chimie ParisTech - PSL and Nantes Université, respectively.
