Benjamin Sim

Senior Associate, Policy & Analytics Group at GenZero

Benjamin Sim has a diverse range of work experience. Benjamin currently works at GenZero as an Associate in the Strategy and Development Group. Prior to this, they worked at Temasek as a Research Associate in the Climate Change Strategy, Ventures & Partnerships division. Before that, Benjamin was a Senior Officer at A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, where they were responsible for developing governance processes and policy considerations for low-carbon energy research funding. Benjamin also collaborated with the research community and engaged with private sector stakeholders to promote R&D collaborations. Benjamin's earlier experience includes freelancing at JTB, where they translated advertising materials and wrote articles to promote rural destinations. Benjamin also managed social media reporting for cultural exchange programs. Additionally, Benjamin completed a research internship at the National Environment Agency, where they conducted policy research and provided recommendations for Singapore's indoor air quality regulations.

Benjamin Sim completed their high school education at Hwa Chong Institution from 2012 to 2013, earning a High School Diploma. In 2016, they obtained a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Interdisciplinary Sciences with a focus on Environmental Science from The University of Tokyo. During their studies, Benjamin also acquired the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 certification from The Japan Foundation in January 2016. In 2018, they pursued an exchange program at The University of British Columbia, where they studied Geography for a year.
