John Maylie

John Maylie is the current President at Geopliant. John has over 20 years of experience in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Maylie started their GIS career as a GIS Coordinator at URS Corporation in 1998. In this role, they were responsible for leading URS Corporation's GIS Program. This included supervising GIS analysts and programmers, proposing on opportunities and managing projects, establishing GIS production operating procedures and policies, implementing GIS technology into engineering work flow processes, and coordinating GIS activities amongst regional offices. Maylie also consulted with local governments on GIS implementation.

In 2001, Maylie left URS Corporation to work as a GIS Coordinator at Wade Trim. In this role, they led Wade-Trim's GIS Program by supervising GIS analysts and programmers, proposing on opportunities and managing projects, establishing GIS production operating procedures and policies, implementing GIS technology into engineering work flow processes, and coordinating GIS activities amongst regional Wade-Trim offices. Maylie also consulted with local governments on GIS implementation.

In 2004, Maylie joined Esri as a Group Lead Project Manager/Consultant. In this role, they supervised as many as 10 Project Manager/Consultants for Esri Professional Services in Washington DC. This team provided project management and consulting services to Esri's federal clients. Maylie also served as a senior consultant to help identify strategies for implementing GIS as an enterprise resource at FEMA. This work included managing a cloud-based mapping portal where FEMA and local governments

John Maylie's educational career includes a Master of Science in Geography from Louisiana State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Penn State University.
