Phil Travis is a dedicated researcher with extensive experience in plasma physics and related fields. Currently serving as a Graduate Student Researcher at the Basic Plasma Science Facility since July 2017, Phil focuses on analyzing turbulence and transport in magnetic mirror geometries utilizing the Large Plasma Device. As the Founder and First Speaker of the Future of Humanity Club since December 2018, Phil promotes initiatives for a sustainable future. Phil has also held multiple roles at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, including Student Programmer for astrophysics simulations, Teaching Assistant for calculus-based E&M courses with outstanding ratings, and various student researcher positions in complex systems and condensed matter. An internship at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory in summer 2016 further enhanced Phil's skills in plasma physics. Phil holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Plasma Physics at UCLA, expected to graduate in 2023.
