Bill Heins has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Bill began their career as a Senior Project Manager at Strategic Management Group, Inc., where they developed and delivered training in strategy and financial analysis to middle managers at technology-based Fortune 500 companies. Bill then worked as a Lithopsychologist at Strivers Row Lithopsychology, investigating the behavior of sedimentary rocks in subsurface fluid reservoirs.
In 1993, they served as a Visiting Professor at Vassar College before becoming a Geology Professor at Lewis-Clark State College from 1995 to 2001. Bill then joined ExxonMobil and held various roles, including Formation Evaluation and Reservoir Quality, New Play Concepts, Unconventional Exploration and Research, and Reservoir Quality and Formation Evaluation.
In 2019, they joined Ammonite Resources as a Senior Exploration Advisor and also became a Product Ambassador at Getech. In August 2021, they were promoted to Chief Geoscientist at Getech. Bill also briefly worked as a Foreign Expert at China Central Television in 1987.
Bill Heins has a diverse education history that includes degrees in geology and economics. Bill obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1984, with a field of study in economics. Additionally, in the same year, they completed a BA degree in Geology/Earth Science, General from the University of Pennsylvania. Bill continued their education at UCLA, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Geology/Earth Science, General in 1992. Prior to that, they attended Gymnasium Burgdorf in Switzerland from 1979 to 1980 and completed a diploma in Debate from Firestone High School in 1979. After their formal education, Bill Heins obtained several certifications in the geoscience field, including a Licensed Professional Geologist certification from the Indiana Board of Licensure for Professional Geologists in 2023, a Professional Geoscientist certification from the Louisiana Board of Professional Geoscientists in 2023, and a Professional Geologist certification from the New York State Education Dept, Office of Professions in 2019.
