Matthew Cody has a diverse work experience in the creative and educational fields. Matthew currently serves as the Director of Content Development at Epic for Kids, where they manage the company's first-ever Content Development Department. In this role, they oversee a team of creative artists and managers, leading the ideation, production, and adaptation of original IP for Animation, Audio, and Interactive Media segments. Matthew also expands offerings in new formats and leverages storytelling expertise to generate relevant and in-demand content.

Prior to their current role, Matthew was the Co-Editorial Director at Epic for Kids, where they ensured alignment of all editorial narratives with the company's creative direction. Matthew worked closely with their team to develop and execute the vision for all company-owned IP, while also managing the editorial/production processes for book series.

Before joining Epic for Kids, Matthew worked as a Senior Editor at the company, where they managed a team of freelance talent and helped develop the Epic Originals comics program. Matthew also launched the Bright Family comic, which featured characters of color in a science-positive series.

Matthew is also self-employed as an Author/Graphic Novelist, publishing books and graphic novels for middle-grade readers. Matthew regularly presents as a guest speaker at schools and festivals across the U.S., including New York Comic Con and Book Expo.

In addition, Matthew has experience as an Instructor at Gotham Writers Workshop, where they taught various writing courses. Matthew also worked as a Showrunner/Head Writer at Realm, where they created and wrote an original young adult science fiction series.

Earlier in their career, Matthew served as a Teacher of English at City University of New York.
