Bora Kaplan

Bora Kaplan has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering and backend development. Starting in 2017, they worked as a System Administrator at UZMAR, where they created Linux servers and deployed an in-house ERP application. Bora also collected benchmarks and developed automation scripts in Python.

In 2018, Bora joined VNGRS as a Data Engineer, where they migrated an on-premise data architecture to Google Cloud Platform and improved Hive jobs by rewriting them in a Luigi workflow using Airflow and Spark in Scala. Bora also briefly worked as a Back-End Developer, where they developed an application using Scala, Play, and Cats.

Moving to Trendyol Group in 2019, Bora worked as a Data Engineer. Here, they built a business advisor portal along with real-time personalization systems using Scala, Akka, Flink, and Cassandra. These initiatives resulted in increased seller engagement and sales.

In 2020, Bora joined ING Tech Poland as a Data Engineer before transitioning to GetYourGuide in 2021. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Data Engineer at GetYourGuide.

Bora Kaplan completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Sakarya University, spanning from 2012 to 2018. In addition to their degree, Bora Kaplan obtained two certifications after graduation. In February 2019, they became Google Cloud Certified as a Professional Data Engineer from Google. Shortly after, in March 2019, they received the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
