Andy Shafer

Andy Shafer has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Andy is currently the Chief Marketing, Customer and Brand Officer at Gevo, Inc. Prior to this, they ran their own consulting firm called Shafer's Innovation and Business Building Services, where they served as a strategist, business builder, author, advisor, and board member. Andy also worked as an Executive Advisor at NewEdge, a growth and innovation strategy firm. Shafer was a key executive at Elevance Renewable Sciences, Inc., where they held various roles including Executive VP of Sales & Market Development, Corporate Brand and Communications, and Strategic Partnerships. Andy began their career at Cargill, where they were a Business Development Manager in the Industrial Bio-Products group. Shafer also held positions at Cargill Dow, LLC and The Dow Chemical Company, where they served in senior marketing and market development roles.

Andy Shafer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, which they attended from 1980 to 1984. In 1996, they obtained a Certificate in Managerial Issues in the Global Enterprise from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Andy later pursued an MBA from the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management, specializing in Carlson Executive MBA, from 2003 to 2005.
