Juan Suarez, AICP, is a Senior Transportation Planner at GFT, providing support to FDOT's District 6 in the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Program since August 2025. Previously, Juan served as Planner II at Alfred Benesch & Company from June 2022 to August 2025, contributing to statewide transit planning and local zero-emission strategies, alongside aviation and seaport facility reviews. As a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Health and the Built Environment at the University of Florida from January 2020 to December 2021, Juan focused on the impacts of Gainesville's RTS Microtransit program. Early experience includes a Transit Planning Intern role at the Regional Transit System, where research involved GIS mapping and ridership data analysis. Juan obtained a Master of Science in Transportation and Highway Engineering and a Master's degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from the University of Florida.
