McCray Coates is currently the Capital Projects Practice Lead at GFT, a position held since 2025. Prior to this, McCray held various engineering roles at NCDOT, including Assistant District Engineer and District Engineer, from 1998 to 2001. McCray also served as the Stormwater Division Manager for the City of Asheville from 2008 to 2019. McCray earned a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University between 1992 and 1996.
