Melanie Walling

Chief Earthquake Hazards Engineer

Melanie Walling is the Chief Earthquake Hazards Engineer at GFT, where they lead seismic risk assessments and innovative earthquake hazard mitigation strategies for critical infrastructure projects. Prior to this role, Melanie served as a Senior Scientist at GeoEngineers Inc., focusing on seismic hazard studies and ground-motion models. Their previous experience includes positions as a Senior Engineer at Lettis Consultants International, Inc., and a Senior Seismic Hazard specialist at AECOM. Melanie earned a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Seismic Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
