Nel Petilon has extensive experience in the fields of orthopedagogy and school counseling, having worked in various roles since 1986. Starting at Daycare Center Halamiet as a creative therapist, Nel provided therapeutic support to children with severe disabilities. Subsequent positions included working as a counselor and school counselor at psychological counseling services, where Nel focused on supporting children with psychosocial issues and learning disabilities. Nel held the title of orthopedagoog at CJG Apeldoorn from April 2010 to January 2016, aiding parents and children with developmental challenges. Additionally, Nel serves as a school counselor at Edison College, offering counseling and policy development for students facing psychological problems. From January 2000 to December 2010, Nel managed a prevention team at GGNet, leading initiatives to address various social issues, including bullying and domestic violence.
