David Brett

Principal Engineer, Water and Mine Waste Management

David Brett is an experienced civil/geotechnical engineer with 50 years in the investigation, design, and construction of engineering projects, specializing in tailings management and water dams. David has played significant roles in key projects, including water management at the Worsley Alumina Refinery and remediation of the Loogana jarosite dump, both recognized with Engineering Excellence Awards. Currently, David serves as Managing Director of David Brett Consulting and is a Senior Technical Director at GHD, while actively mentoring newcomers in the tailings industry. David’s involvement extends to serving on the International Commission of Large Dams committee and contributing to the development of industry guidelines on tailings management. They hold a Master's degree in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering from the University of Tasmania.
