Mark Locke

Mark Locke is a Technical Director in Dams and Hydropower at GHD, where they lead the pumped hydropower team, focusing on project identification and collaboration with developers to advance the energy transition. With over 25 years of technical experience in hydropower, dams, tailings engineering, and geotechnical analysis, they have designed and constructed several embankment and RCC dams up to 50 meters high. Mark holds a PhD in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering from the University of Wollongong and has gained international experience across North America, Europe, the Pacific, Asia, and Africa. Outside of work, Mark enjoys skiing, windsurfing, and cycling with their two children.
