Global Health Systems Empowerment Network (GHSEN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and international research network focused on strengthening health systems and addressing inequities through collaborative research, evidence-based policy, and partnerships spanning the United States and sub-Saharan Africa.

We use research to promote awareness of global health challenges and disseminate evidence-based recommendations to policymakers on bolstering health systems, expanding healthcare access, and tackling health inequities globally. Over three years, GHSEN has published 30+ articles on topics like:

- Strategies to safeguard healthcare amidst the humanitarian crisis in Congo
- Interventions to address the dual burden of HIV and cardiovascular disease in Tanzania
- Policies to protect HIV care in the wake of PEPFAR’s uncertain future in Uganda
- Updates on the global response to the 2024 mpox emergency in Central Africa

GHSEN is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of global health leaders committed to advancing healthcare in sub-Saharan Africa. Our culturally informed approach emphasizes meaningful partnerships, mutual respect, and a deep understanding of the local context. Through this framework:
