Stephen Chen is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in portfolio management and quantitative research. Currently serving as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at GIC since November 2015, Stephen specializes in managing index-tracking portfolios, focusing on minimizing tracking errors and maximizing cost efficiency through quantitative optimization techniques. Previously, as Senior Vice President and Quantitative Execution Researcher at GIC, Stephen led quantitative research on multi-asset trading flows and developed intra-day trading signals using Bloomberg B-PIPE real-time tick data. Prior to GIC, Stephen worked at Merrill Lynch from April 2006 to October 2015 as Vice President, where responsibilities included developing an in-house transaction cost analysis system and supporting a quantitative research database. Stephen holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore.
