Douglas Meyer

Senior Principal Engineer at GigaIO

Douglas Meyer has been working in the software engineering industry since 1984. Douglas'sfirst job was as an Electrical Engineer at Delphi, where they worked on manufacturing engineering and "lights out" manufacturing techniques. In 1989, they began working as a Graduate Research Assistant at Mississippi State University, where they conducted research on massively parallel MIMD architectures. In 1991, they became an Assistant Researcher at the National Science Foundation Research Center for Computational Field Simulation. In 1993, they joined Cray Research Business Systems Division as a Member Technical Staff. In 1996, they moved to Sun Microsystems as a Staff Engineer, then a Principal/Senior Staff Engineer, and then a Principal/Senior Engineer. From 2009 to 2013, they were engaged in continuing education while seeking new employment. Finally, in 2017, they joined GigaIO as a Senior Principal Engineer.

Douglas Meyer has a diverse educational background. Douglas first attended Valparaiso University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 1984 and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1984. Douglas then attended Mississippi State University, where they obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1991 and was pursuing a Doctorate in Computational Engineering until 1992. Douglas also completed Continuing Education in SW Architecture/Programming from 2010 to 2012, a Sun Microsystems Learning/Certification Program in 2009 to 2010, a course with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation from 2007 to 2009, and a course with the Emergency Management Institute/Emergency Training Center (FEMA/DHS) from 2006 to 2007.
