Mike Woolingham has extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity. Mike most recently worked at Gigamon as a Senior Sales/Security Engineer starting in November 2020. Prior to that, they were a Senior Security Engineer at Dell SecureWorks from January 2017 to November 2020, where they designed and delivered solutions to information security challenges for large and complex clients from various industries.
Before their role at Dell SecureWorks, Mike served as the Chief of the Cyber Defense Capabilities Section at DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) from February 2015 to January 2017. In this position, they provided strategic direction and leadership to a team of 150+ personnel responsible for cyber security for the Department of Defense (DoD) Information Network (DoDIN), developed plans to improve cyber defensive risk posture, and contributed to policy and strategy development as a cyber security subject matter expert.
Prior to DISA, Mike worked as an Information Assurance Specialist at Axiom Corporation from November 2014 to February 2015, providing technical support for network security and information assurance related to medical devices used by the Air Force Medical Service. Mike also conducted security testing and evaluations for multiple medical device vendors.
From April 2011 to November 2014, Mike held the position of Chief of the Cyber Security Operations Center at the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). In this role, they led a diverse team responsible for providing cyber security and vulnerability assessment services globally. Mike also managed defensive capabilities development and maintenance for the NRO cyber defense program.
Mike's earlier work experience includes roles at the Air Force Institute of Technology, where they served as a Research & Development (R&D) Technician and Graduate Student from May 2009 to March 2011, and at the Air Force Enterprise Network Operations and Security Center. At the latter, they held various positions, including Department Head of Cyber Security Training and Quality Assurance, Operations Manager for Cyber Security, Section Supervisor for Network Training, and Technical Manager for Network Infrastructure and System Administration.
Throughout their career, Mike has demonstrated expertise in cyber security, strategic planning, leadership, and technical support for diverse organizations and industries, ranging from government agencies to healthcare and finance.
Mike Woolingham completed their education in a variety of fields and obtained multiple certifications. Mike earned a Master of Science in Cyber Operations from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2011. Additionally, they completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from North Carolina Wesleyan University.
Mike also holds an Associate of Applied Science in Cyber Security from the Community College of the Air Force, which they acquired in 2011. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate of Applied Science in Information Systems Technology from the same institution in 2000.
