Erick Lu is a Principal Scientist in Inflammation at Gilead Sciences, with a progressive career that includes roles as Senior Research Scientist I and Research Scientist in the same field. Prior experience includes serving as a Scientist II at TRex Bio and Pionyr Immunotherapeutics, where Erick identified novel cell types and drug targets in tumors using single-cell RNA-seq, and generated preclinical pharmacology data for IND filings. As a Postdoctoral Researcher at UCSF, Erick characterized the ligand for the orphan G-protein coupled receptor P2RY8, utilizing custom biochemical fractionation techniques. During doctoral studies at UCSF, Erick led projects on dendritic cell migration within lymphoid organs, implementing various experimental techniques. Earlier, at UC Berkeley, Erick performed undergraduate research on dietary omega-3 effects on immune cell activation and gained teaching experience in chemistry. Erick holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Immunology) and a B.A. in Molecular Cell Biology with a double major in Statistics.
