Ross Martin

Ross Martin is an experienced bioinformatics professional currently serving as the Director of Bioinformatics at Gilead Sciences since August 2008. In this role, Ross leads a team focused on virology bioinformatics, specializing in the analysis of viral genomes and escape patterns from antiviral treatments. Responsibilities include employing machine learning algorithms for predicting drug susceptibility and treatment outcomes, developing GxP compliant software systems, and leading cross-functional teams for regulatory submissions. Prior experience includes a role as a Data Quality Engineer at Premier Inc., where Ross submitted clinical data to meet regulatory standards and ensured data quality for IT projects. Ross holds a Master’s Degree in Biotechnology from The Johns Hopkins University, several certificates from the University of Washington in Python Programming and Big Data Technologies, as well as a certificate in Computer Science from North Carolina State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematical Sciences from Clemson University.
