Uli Schmitz has over 30 years of experience in various leadership roles within the pharmaceutical industry, currently serving as a Senior Director of Structural Chemistry at Gilead Sciences, a position they have held since 2016. Previously, Uli held the title of Director of Structural Chemistry at Gilead Sciences from 2009 and was the Director of Cheminformatics & Modeling at Genelabs Technologies from 1999 to 2009. They also contributed to academia as an Assistant Adjunct Professor at UCSF from 1992 to 1999, focusing on biophysical and computational studies of proteins and nucleic acid complexes. Uli earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from RWTH Aachen University in 1987.
