April Leonard

April Leonard is an experienced engineering leader with a robust background in software development and management. Currently serving as VP of Engineering at GitHub since May 2023, April's previous positions include Senior Director and Director of Engineering within the same organization. Prior roles at New Relic, Inc. include Senior Engineering Manager, where responsibility encompassed the flagship APM product Java Agent team, and Engineering Manager, leading innovative efforts to launch the New Relic GraphQL API. Earlier career experiences include Sr. Software Engineer at Extensis, where April developed a scalable e-commerce backend, and Software Developer at NWEA, contributing to an adaptive testing platform. April also worked as a freelance contractor and holds two Bachelor's Degrees in Computer Science from the University of Puget Sound.
