Bas van Schaik is a seasoned professional in product management and technology, currently serving as Senior Director of Product Management at GitHub since December 2019, where the focus is on CodeQL, a code security scanning technology. Prior to this, Bas held the position of Head of Product at Semmle, leading the company through its acquisition by GitHub, and previously directed a data science and machine learning team while developing advanced static source code analysis tools. With experience as a Site Reliability Consultant at Tetra B.V. and a Research Associate at the University of Oxford e-Research Centre, Bas has a strong background in technology education and practical applications of computer science. A graduate of the University of Oxford with a D.Phil. in Computer Science, Bas also holds both MSc. and BSc. degrees from Utrecht University.
