Idan Gazit

Idan Gazit is an experienced technology leader currently serving as Head of GitHub Next since March 2020, where a team develops strategic innovations such as Copilot and GitHub Spark. Previously, Idan held positions as Senior Director and Director of Research within the same group, focusing on technology initiatives for GitHub. Prior to GitHub, Idan was a Principal Engineer at Heroku, founding and leading a team to enhance user experiences for data products, and served as Lead Designer at Django, advocating for design needs within the framework. Idan co-founded Umbrella.io to create interactive data visualizations and founded Skills, a recruitment tool for technical roles. Earlier career highlights include freelance web development, product management at Volicon, and research assistant roles at NYU. Idan holds a BA in Computer Science and Mathematics from New York University.
