Jake Shorty

Jake Shorty is a seasoned software engineer currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer at GitHub since September 2020, focusing on Copilot productivity and Codespaces. Prior to GitHub, Jake worked at Amperity from November 2019 to September 2020, developing data pipelines and marketing execution features using Clojure. From May 2015 to November 2019, Jake contributed to Custora as a Software Engineer, building server-side support and leading version upgrades of a large Rails monolith. Early career experience includes a Direct Support Professional role at Creative Trails in 2014 and a Biological Field Technician position with organizations such as the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service from 2012 to 2013. Jake holds a BA in Biology from Bowdoin College, along with a specialized program in wildlife conservation and political ecology from the School for International Training.
