John Wilmes

John Wilmes is a machine learning and algorithms scientist with over a decade of experience in both industry and academia. Currently serving as a Staff Applied Researcher at GitHub, they previously held roles as the Founder and Principal Research Scientist at Wilmes Consulting LLC and as a Senior Machine Learning Researcher at Symbolica AI, where they developed innovative models and led teams. Their academic contributions include serving as an Assistant Professor at Brandeis University, where they received an NSF grant and supervised Ph.D. students. John earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Chicago and has published research in top-tier venues such as NeurIPS and ICLR.
