Karl Krukow is a seasoned software engineering leader currently serving as Senior Director of Software Engineering at GitHub since May 2020, where responsibilities include overseeing advanced security code scanning experiences and the CodeQL languages teams. Previously held roles at Microsoft involved principal product management and leading efforts for continuous improvement across product teams. Prior to that, Karl led the Xamarin Test Cloud development, acted as CTO at LessPainful.com, and worked as a software developer at Trifork. Karl's early career included foundational research in trust-based security as a Ph.D. student at the University of Aarhus. Karl earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Aarhus University, completing the degree in 2006.
