Kevin Backhouse is a seasoned security research professional currently serving as Staff Manager of the Security Research sub-team at GitHub Security Lab since December 2019. With a focus on enhancing the security of open source software, Kevin has successfully identified and reported critical vulnerabilities, including CVE-2023-43641. Prior experience includes roles as a Security Research Engineer and Engineering Manager at Semmle, a Software Engineer at Oracle focused on in-memory database optimization, and Compiler Engineer positions at both MathWorks and ARM Ltd. Kevin holds a DPhil in Computer Science from the University of Oxford and previously earned a Diploma and BA in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
