Luke Cartey

Luke Cartey is a seasoned professional in the field of computer science and software engineering, currently serving as the Director of CodeQL Services for EMEA/APAC at GitHub since December 2019. Prior to this role, Luke held multiple positions at GitHub, including Lead Security Solution Architect and Security Solutions Architect. Luke's career began at Semmle, where a tenure from May 2013 to December 2019 as a Research Engineer was marked by significant contributions. Educationally, Luke completed a Master of Computer Science at the University of Oxford in 2008, where a DPhil thesis focused on "Domain Specific Languages for Graphics Cards" was developed, alongside experience as a DPhil student at the same institution from October 2009 to December 2013. Additional experiences include roles at IBM, where contributions were made as a Trainee Software Engineer and a Summer Intern, as well as a Research Assistant position at the University of Oxford.
