Max Brunsfeld

Max Brunsfeld is a seasoned software engineer and entrepreneur with extensive experience in software development and engineering. As a co-founder of Zed since March 2021, Max focuses on building collaborative software writing tools. At GitHub, Max has served as a Senior Software Engineer since November 2014, notable for developing Tree-sitter, a parser generator that supports multiple programming languages across various applications. Prior experience includes a role as a Full Stack Engineer at Pivotal Labs, where Max built diverse applications and contributed to the Cloud Foundry platform, and co-founding Hyperarchy. Max's earlier work includes research positions at Bredas Computational Chemistry Lab, the National Weather Service, and NASA Ames, focusing on advanced computational and modeling techniques. Max holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Humboldt State University, completed in 2011.
