Mitch Naylor

Mitch Naylor is a seasoned data scientist and machine learning researcher with extensive experience in applied research and model development. Currently serving as a Senior Applied Machine Learning Researcher at GitHub since April 2024, Mitch focuses on enhancing GitHub Copilot through the development and fine-tuning of large language models. Prior to GitHub, Mitch held roles at Azra AI, where leadership as a Lead Data Scientist involved building clinical NLP models and guiding product strategy, and as a Senior Data Scientist at Digital Reasoning, contributing to healthcare-focused applied machine learning initiatives. Additional experience includes data science roles at Asurion and GEICO, as well as a foundational position as an Extension Student Assistant at the University of Tennessee. Mitch holds a Master of Science in Analytics from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
