John Coghlan is an experienced technology professional with a strong background in developer advocacy and community engagement. Currently serving as the Director of Developer Advocacy at GitLab since December 2018, John leads initiatives focused on content creation and customer interaction. Previous roles at GitLab include Senior Manager of Developer Evangelism and Technical Marketing, and Head of Community Relations, where John oversaw developer relations and open source programs. Prior to GitLab, John worked at Grubhub as a Tech Evangelist and at Hudson's Bay Company in a similar role, enhancing tech culture and community. John is also the founder of DUMBO Startup Lab, supporting numerous startups and creatives while fostering significant investment and growth. Additional experience includes program management at United Way of New York City and involvement with AmeriCorps. John holds a BA from Penn State University.
