Marcel van Remmerden

Marcel van Remmerden is an accomplished design leader with extensive experience in product design and user experience. At GitLab since March 2019, Marcel holds the position of Senior Manager of Product Design, leading a team of designers focused on enhancing user interactions with code and documentation. Previously, Marcel served as a freelancer specializing in UX design and research, as well as Design Lead at slashwhy, where a new design department was established for Virtual Reality product development. Marcel's earlier roles include Senior User Experience Designer at IBM, where foundational design practices were implemented, and various positions in user experience and usability research from 2010 to 2015. Marcel's educational background includes a Master of Science in Communications and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from the University of Twente, along with an undergraduate degree in Human Centered Design & Engineering from the University of Washington.
