Matt Coons

Matt Coons is an experienced professional in security operations, currently serving as the Manager of Security Operations at GitLab since October 2022. In this role, Matt acts as the SIRT Incident Commander and leads both the global Trust and Safety team strategy and project delivery, as well as the global Signals Engineering team. Prior to GitLab, Matt was an Adjunct Instructor at Nexus at University of Michigan Engineering from April 2021 to April 2023 and held multiple positions at PwC from May 2019 to October 2022, including Senior Manager and Manager of Threat Response. Additional experience includes roles at the University of Michigan as an Incident Responder and Threat Analyst, HCR ManorCare as a Security Analyst, MetaLINK Technologies as a Technical Support Shift Supervisor, and an internship at Owens Community College in Information Security. Matt holds a Master of Science in Information Security Operations from Champlain College and a degree in Digital Forensic Science from Defiance College.
