Rafael Henchen

Rafael Henchen is a seasoned Database Reliability Engineer with extensive experience in database management and cloud infrastructure. Currently employed at GitLab as a Sr Database Reliability Engineer since November 2021, Rafael focuses on ensuring the availability and scalability of PostgreSQL databases. Prior to GitLab, Rafael served as a Database Engineer at Amazon Web Services from April 2018 to November 2021, where responsibilities included troubleshooting, cloud services guidance, root cause analysis, and automating system tasks. Rafael also held positions at ATECH, Hewlett-Packard, SUNTECH, and Hoplon Infotainment, contributing expertise in database design, IT infrastructure solutions, performance tuning, and system administration across various industries. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science was obtained from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina between 1998 and 2004.
