Gorata Samuel

Regional Advisor for Resilience Initiative Africa (RIA)

Gorata Samuel is a dedicated advisor for the GIZ Resilience Initiative Africa (RIA) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Environmental Science at the University of Botswana, focusing on disaster science and geospatial technologies. They previously held roles as a Junior Regional Advisor and Intern for the Global Initiative on Disaster Risk Management (GIDRM) and served as a Laboratory Demonstrator and Research Assistant at the University of Botswana. Additionally, Gorata completed a PhD Exchange Program in Geoinformatics at Justus Liebig University Giessen and holds two master's degrees in Geoinformation Science and Environmental Science. Their research interests center around disaster management and risk reduction using geospatial technology.
