Markus Wagner is currently the Country Director for Nigeria and ECOWAS at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, a position held since 2022. Previously, Markus served as Directeur résident au Togo and Head of Program for the Extractives for Development initiative at GIZ from 2016 to 2022. Markus has held various roles in the field of mineral economics, including Head of Section at BGR and Exploration Manager at Hansa GeoMin Consult GmbH. With an academic background that includes a Doctorate in Mineral Economics and multiple Master's degrees in Industrial Engineering and Economic Geology, Markus has contributed significantly to the sector since the early 1990s.
