Nik Soni

Nik Soni serves as Team Leader at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, leading a technical assistance team for aid management and coordination of EU Programmes in Vanuatu since November 2024. Soni founded Watergall Consulting in July 2006, specializing in economic and public financial management support to small island states, with notable assignments across the Pacific, including policy reviews and public expenditure assessments. Previous roles include Team Lead for GIZ's Vanuatu Value Chain programme, Director for Abt Associates, and Team Leader for Adam Smith International. Soni has extensive experience advising governments in Timor-Leste and Vanuatu on public financial management reforms. Additionally, Soni founded the Pacific Institute of Public Policy, enhancing public policy dialogue in the region. Soni holds a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Oxford.
